Many of us decide around January 1st to make some changes to our lives. We decide to drink less, eat healthier, exercise more, stay in touch with our friends and family better and generally live a bit more like a saint. I of course jump on this band wagon each January first. This year I decided to quit swearing, dedicate myself more to my yoga practice and try to eat healthier. I managed to do a bit of all three but have realized mid-year that I'm really not sticking to my resolutions as well as I'd like. So today I am going to reassess my resolutions and make some mid-year resolutions. It seems fitting since it feels more like January than June given it's winter here in Sydney. Also it just happens to be the winter solstice so as I make a change in direction, so does the season. So on the shortest day of the year I have decided to bring a little more light into my life.
Starting today (today being 21 June 2011. Yes, I even procrastinate in finishing blog entries) I will dedicate to practicing yoga every day, even if it's just a short yogaglo video or a few sun salutes. Let's see if building some heat in my body each day keeps me warm through the winter and brings a bit more joy into my life. Not that I need it after marrying the man of my dreams a few weeks ago, but that's an entirely different matter and will blog about it soon.
